LAN Support Services

Why LSS?

Local area networks can be a tremendous resource to a department, but they are complex and require technical expertise to keep them operating properly.
LAN Support Services takes a proactive approach to maintenance of information systems through monitoring, site visits and regularly scheduled meetings with staff on site. Better service is provided to departments by assigning a primary LSS contact to each site, and all other members are kept informed of any problems and on-going projects. This approach keeps a continuity of support that is not affected by individuals vacation, sick leave, or changing of positions.

Some of our customers consider the continuity of reliable service and the complexity of system maintenance too important to address only when something goes wrong, which leads these customers to hire team members on a contractual basis to provide regular weekly support. These contracts are offered on an annual basis. Some departments prefer prepaid support via our retainer contract.

If your organization has a professional computer support staff, we also may be able to help. Quite often, staff professionals are busy maintaining their systems, and do not have the time for unforeseen maintenance issues. For a nominal hourly charge, LSS members can work with your staff persons on a project by project basis to reduce the backlog of long-term improvement projects or nice-to-have system enhancements.
We are competitive with off-campus third-party vendors, and as active members of the university community, offer the assurance of continued availability over the years.
